We don’t know the reasons of why people do what they do. Daniel was found outside a local church, in a small town near Chihuahua, on a cold February morning, wrapped in a shower curtain, shivering, abandoned. The streets were deserted, and all the priest could hear that morning was the little baby’s mumble.  It was clear that he was in need of medical attention. So Daniel was taken to a hospital, where he spent the following seven days.

The authorities received a call that morning. It seemed to be just another case of abandonment.  Just another child who would live within the boundaries and limitations of an institution. Except this time it was different; there was an alternate solution. Through Familia LightShine, there was an option for Daniel to be received by a foster family, an opportunity to be taken care of, to be nurtured, to be loved.

Edith and Arturo received a phone call. This was not new to them, as they have been a loving Foster Family for well over a year. There was no hesitation, there was no doubt, only the certainty that God was urging them to share his love with yet another one of his little ones. Daniel found a home.

Months have gone by, and now Daniel is healthy, loved, and on his way to being permanently adopted into an amazing family, finding his forever home. This is not a coincidence, and it doesn’t “just happen”. Many people were involved in his story; from the priest who found him, to the hospital staff who took care of him, to a loving Foster Family who nurtured him. We are blessed to be a small part of this story! As we find, train, enable and empower families to receive the fatherless, Familia LightShine has become the main option for children like Daniel in the state of Chihuahua. Our Christian Foster Family program has now fostered over 22 children in the past year, and this is only the beginning!
